If you are a fan of Octavia Butler and you want to introduce her work to the younger people in your life, this is a good book for tweens before they tackle the Parable Series (whose main character is a teen in the beginning). It was fun to read about Butler life through Zoboi's research and experiences and I really enjoyed seeing the photos she has included in this book. I was a bit thrown by the order or poems to information, but others may appreciate there order; the historian in my me wants the info before the artistic interpretation.
