This book is the best I've seen so far that combines modern science of how breathwork works with the Eastern Yogic pranayama techniques and philosophy. It explains very complex physiological and anatomical concepts in very simple language that can be easily understood. It also provides an excellent summary of every breathwork impact, along with examples of how to design a goal-oriented breathwork class or practice. This book has taken my breathwork practice, understand and even teaching to a whole new level. I've been a therapist for over 40 years and practiced yoga for about 15 years and it had new information for me. The sequence of exercises for insomnia WORK FOR ME. I cannot tell you how amazing that is. I also love the clear scientific explanation of breathing. The only drawback is that is does not have a glossary of all the Sanskrit terms, so I posted the one I made above. P.S. As someone who has only recently started learning about the value of breath work, I found Dylan's book to be extremely accessible in terms of the depth in information, but more importantly in the delivery of that information.I loved how he presented a framework of both the physiological processes at work in our body when we breath and the yogic principles that one can view as a different layer to the same "map".His explanations of the yogic systems in connection to physiological processes were like constant "mind blown" moments - I had never been presented with this information in this way before.The graphics and the charts are an extra bonus. Everything is presented so clearly in words, but reinforced with the visuals.It's very evident that great detail and care was put into wanting to teach and share knowledge.I've already re-read sections and had great discussions with friends surrounding different passages in the book.
