What an ending. I’m so glad to be finishing this book just as The Cabinet of Dr. Leng was released. I think I would have needed a trans dimensional machine myself just to get my hands on the next book if that wasn’t the case. Just when I though Constance was out of the picture, her adventures are about to begin…over100 years later, albeit. Bloodless opens up so many new narratives and side stories I can’t wrap my mind around it. I would love to see the trio of Pendergast, Coldmoon, and D’Agosta working together; the children of Constance, Pendergast and D’Agosta on their own adventure…. This is the kind of mind-bending thoughts that are triggered after reading Bloodless. It’s almost too much for one book….almost! I've enjoyed the series very much but was beginning to find the stories a bit boring and formulaic, it seemed the series had run it's course. And that's fine, three decades is a long time to keep one character interesting and engaging. But this latest installment put those feelings to rest, at least for the moment because there's an excellent twist at the end that I won't disclose but that opens up all kinds of new possibilities. It's completely revived my interest in the series and I look forward to the next book as much as I used to ten or fifteen years ago.If you're a fan of the Pendergast novels and even if you've started to grow weary of them, as I had, I recommend you give the series another chance and read this book, it's not up there with The Cabinet of Curiosities or Still Life with Crows, but it's not far off and it's a fun read. Cooper airplane hijacking and presumed escape, one of the FBI's most famous unsolved mysteries. It then moves to Savannah, a city with its own claims to atmosphere and history. Messrs. Preston and Child, as usual, convey people and places with a marvelous attention to detail. The conclusion of the tale is pretty good science fiction, albeit not exactly in the authors' real wheelhouse, if you know what I mean. Pendergast shows off a heroic side and Constance plays a major role.
